Great fan for the money December 17, 2007 Scott Maley This fan works as advertised. The documentaion was well thought out and the fan was easy to install. Mine is in a 01 Suburban and it took about 5 hours to complete. More power now and ICE COLD A/C. Be warned that when the A/C on the unit will run as long as the A/C is on and it makes a bit of noise.
Great Product January 30, 2010 Michael L. Lantz Easy to install and wire up. You do need some troubleshooting skills to wire up. I've had it on my 2004 Suburban for over a year. It does a great job cooling. A/C cooling is improved at low speed/idle and gas milage is up about 1mpg. Now getting 17 in city and 21 on Hwy. Even cools when towing.
Flex-a-lite 282 in 2004 Suburban January 31, 2008 Mossmorran (Edwardsville, IL) Unit delivered in record time! Wow, seems like I hit the enter key and then soon after the delivery service left it at the front door. Unit had some pre assembly required, which could of been done by manufacturer, like wiring and stat control mounting. Fans went in very easily, however stat control failed to work and manufacturer quickly sent out a replacement within two days after call to tech support.
Noticable gains in power to the rear wheels and much quieter operation at idle during cold mornings.
Easy Install August 18, 2009 Tim G. Golden (North Wisconsin) They work great, not as noisy as some reviews say. Easy to install, take your time and plan out wire routes and tie strap all in place for a neat install. Only draw back is you need to install a direct power switch to run fans if control fails. 1 mile per gallon increase towing 3500lbs with my 99 tahoe. And on a 365 mile trip thats a 5 gallon increase. havent checked no load milage yet.
Really good cooling fan. Amateur-ish electrics. October 12, 2009 R. Von Dohlen (Boerne, TX) This product replaced the OEM fan clutch/fan in a Suburban(1). It was very easy to install and works perfectly. The fan regulates engine temperatures properly- even with outside temps of 105 degrees, high humidity and both A/C's on max.
While the fan itself is a great modern-tech product, there is a valid complaint to be made regarding the low-tech electrical connections supplied. These parts are all very dated crimp-on style plug-together connectors. They do perform their job for now, but will require more maintenance and repairs than their modern counterparts would have required. Substitions were made where possible in this installation, but at the most critical high-amp carrying connections (the power-to-modulator connection) it was not feasible to use anything other than the provided spade connectors.
Out of box quality: 5
Ease of Installation: 5
Performance: 5
Quality of peripheral components: 2
Foreseeable maintenance to the connectors:1
